You Should Play Donut County

Everything is or was on sale, and that means that even people as low effort as myself has managed to play a few things over the holiday period. Well, I did actually try playing the new game about a creed of assassins, but upon reaching the first open-world area decided that I simply did not have the energy for it and uninstalled it instead. One thing I did have the energy for though, was Donut County.

Donut County is one of those games that you can’t really spoil because it’s all about the gameplay, but I’ll keep it light-ish just because there are some very entertaining moments within the game’s two-to-three hours runtime that you are definitely better off seeing first-hand. The gameplay is simple enough, you control a hole that moves around and consumes things and gets larger as it does so. There are some variations on this as you go, but that’s the core of what you’re doing. It’s fun, and a bit like a reverse katamari of some sort, because you’re destroying instead of creating.

It’s simple, it’s funny, and my daughter sort of helped me by pushing the A button to help me get through the conversations. It’s just a really good little game, and the size of it means that you can blast through it in an afternoon, and my god did I need a game like that to remember how much fun games could be. So, yeah, go ahead and play Donut County if you haven’t, you won’t regret it.
