Baba Is Late.
Baba Is You, the award-winning puzzle game, has been delayed for release, according to the game’s official twitter account. Last night the team announced that although Baba is You’s development is well underway, it would be instead be released early next year.
They stated that the delay is due to ”schedules getting too risky” and ”December not being a good release month”. Instead, the team are hoping that the delay will give them some extra time to ”really polish everything up”.
Baba Is You has already attracted plenty of attention for its innovative ideas. In this game, you can change the rules by which you play. In every level, the rules themselves are present as blocks you can interact with; by manipulating them, you can change how the level works and cause surprising, unexpected interactions. With some simple block-pushing you can turn yourself into a rock, turn patches of grass into dangerously hot obstacles, and even change the goal you need to reach to something entirely different.
With its pared back art style and interesting take on game mechanics, we’re sure this release will benefit from a fresh new year to release in. To keep up to date, take a look at Baba is You on Steam and follow them on twitter @babaisyou_.
