Nordic Mystery Draugen gets new Teaser Trailer

Red Thread Games’ latest project looks set to beguile.

Originally premiered at this years AdventureX conference, Red Thread Games have now officially released their teaser trailer for Draugen. The follow-up project from the creators of the successful Dreamfall Chapters, Draugen is a first-person ‘Fjord Noir’ mystery set in the stunningly beautiful hills of 1920s Norway.

The player inhabits the role of Edward Charles Harden, an American traveller who’s come to Norway to find his missing sister. But as we can see from the trailer, you’re not alone in this journey; at every step of the way, Edward is accompanied by his ward, Lissie, a gregarious, independent and enigmatic young woman. Together, you must explore this scenic coastal community — nestled amongst the fjords and mountains of rural Norway — in your search for Edward’s sister, and unearth the darkness that lies beneath the picturesque surface.

While detective games could be seen as a worn genre, there is something that feels fresh about this latest offering. In terms of hints at gameplay, the trailer is keeping its cards close to its chest, but the beautiful design and melancholy soundtrack already make for intriguing viewing.

For now the game remains in development, with a hopeful release date of 2019, but if you want to keep up-to-date with Draugen, you can wishlist the game now on Steam.
