David OReilly’s Mountain gets massive update with Mountain 2.0

The “relax-em-‘up” gets a full-featured makeover.

David OReilly’s peaceful mountain simulator Mountain (ah, yes, inventive title) just welcomed a brand new update in the form of Mountain 2.0.

Despite the fact that the game welcomed a smaller new swath of content back in 2017, OReilly and crew decided it was time to bring an even bigger collection of new goodies to the game, which puts it miles ahead of the game first released in 2014.

“This was motivated because I wanted to get it right, but mainly as a thank you to you guys, who have been so patient and positive over the years,” OReilly said in the free update’s patch notes. “Your enjoyment, discussion, exploration and sharing of this game has been so incredibly encouraging… I cannot express enough gratitude to you all.”

In terms of what you can expect from the update, it includes some of the following updates, per the official itch.io page: Different mountain types with unique flora, improved mountain shapes as well as appearances, a new cloud system with revamped environmental effects, improvements and optimizations to shaders, tree and plant varieties having been added, additional artifacts, dynamic birds and butterflies, and much more.

According to the patch notes, the process actually began a year ago, according to OReilly. “It started by putting in some minor fixes, then got deeper as we realized how much better it could be. We are just a lot more experienced than we were in 2014.”

If you’re interested in seeing Mountain 2.0 for yourself, it’s available for just a dollar on Steam and itch.io. If you already own it, make sure you apply the free Version 2.0 update once you’ve downloaded the game.
