The Cuphead Show

Cuphead is coming to Netflix

The 1930s style shoot ’em up is being turned into a cartoon. The Cuphead Show

Studio MDHR recently announced that their bullet hell boss rush Cuphead is getting its own animated Netflix show. The game, originally inspired by 1930s cartoons and painstakingly recreated with the same techniques of the era will now be turned into The Cuphead Show.

Announced on Studio MDHR social media accounts, it comes as little surprise to finally see the dynamic duo finally make a leap to the small screen. Looks like Mugman has got the Luigi syndrome though as it only states ‘starring Mugman’, not the Cuphead and Mugman show. Someone should really make a game wholly comprised of sidekick characters and give them the limelight they deserve.

Studio MDHR promise that we’ll “witness the wondrous Inkwell Isles as you’ve never seen them before” in this original series and, like the game, it will take inspiration from early 1930s cartoons. This really demonstrates the popularity Cuphead has gathered over the last few years and the strength of its novel visual style.

With the Director of the Micky Shorts Disney series behind it, there’s surely some guarantee of quality as well. No date has been given yet for the release of the show. Fans are still awaiting the currently delayed DLC expansion, The Delicious Last Course.

All we know is that both are currently in production, so it seems like we’ll all have plenty more Cuphead in our lives moving forward. Now, if only they could make a Shovel Knight TV show.
