Blair Witch

Things get seriously weird in the latest Blair Witch trailer

Best make sure those camcorder batteries are charged.

Indie developers, Bloober Team have released a new gameplay trailer this week for their up and coming take on the cult ’90s found footage horror film, The Blair Witch Project. In it, we see protagonist and former police officer, Ellis venturing into the Black Hills Forest in search for a lost boy. Things quickly turn sideways with the trailer referencing the rumours about the witch and the haunted wood.

With his trusty dog at his side, it seems our unfortunate investigator will have to face the nightmarish horrors of the mysterious wood as he unravels the truth behind the tale in his search to find the lost child. It all looks pretty terrifying, some sections even featuring the camcorder style footage the original film became synonymous with.

Blair WitchYou do have your dog though so that at least means you’re not alone. But, it also means you’ve got one more thing to worry about, especially if they run off into the pitch-black forest. Like most horrors of this ilk, light seems to play an important role in trying to make you poop yourself. So, expect to be exploring dimly lit abandoned houses and terrifyingly dark woodland throughout.

The found footage sections seem equally as terrifying and evoke a similar feel to some of the more iconic first-person horror games like Outlast. Let’s hope we’re not scrambling around for batteries again as I don’t imagine there are many 7-Elevens out in the sticks.

Bliar Witch is set to launch on PC and Xbox One 30 August 2019. And, who knows, we might actually get to see the witch this time.
