Become the spin doctor in propaganda sim Not For Broadcast

Fake news.

If we’ve learnt anything from Twitter in the last few years, its that news has the ability to get very skewed very quickly. Obviously, this sort of news-tampering propaganda has been around for yonks, but Twitter has somehow made it all the more visible, especially when people explicitly point out the lies, the bad editing and the bad acting. What better way to get to grips with how this sort of thing is managed than through a propaganda simulator itself? Take a brief step into the dark side and then step right back out mister!

Not For Broadcast is set in an alternative 1980s where you find yourself a crucial part of the National Nightly News team. As the team documents one political scandal after the next, you get to see the rise of a radical government in real time and cut it all together for that nights news. The twist is, that really isn’t your job; you’ve been brought in to clean the studio but somehow, you end up being able to determine what goes out on air. This narrative-driven propaganda sim ‘lets you set the agenda’, as you’re able to fiddle with camera feeds, choose headlines and bleep out bad language. Will you censor the news and get a pat on the back, or reveal the truth and get punished?

Politically driven games have been coming thick and fast of late, and we’re absolutely here for it. To get behind the fake news machine, and perhaps expose a bit of truth, you can get Not For Broadcast’s Prologue for free on Wednesday 11th on Steam.
