The Latest Streets Of Rage 4 Trailer Is Weaponized Nostalgia

I’m getting to an age where thinking back on the games of yesteryear can easily lead to me browsing eBay for an old console. That usually leads to me laughing about the fact that I’ve got no time for the backlog I already have, and then rather sadly closing down the browser, trying to stand up without making any involuntary noises, and then sitting down and not gaming. It’s upsetting, but I’m probably not the only one in this situation.

In fact, if the latest Streets of Rage 4 trailer is anything to go by, there’s an infinite army of us always waiting for the next hit of nostalgia. Actually, it’s probably more accurate to describe this as a nostalgic flaming uppercut than just a hit, as the trailer shows off not just some classic music, but an astounding amount of unlockable characters too, each of which is rendered in the original art style. It’s a lot to take in, and all it’s really done is make me, and by extension, you, more excited about the game.

There’s no firm release date for Streets of Rage 4 yet, though there was a rumour about it coming out at the end of this month. Currently, it’s just releasing in Spring 2020, which is now, really. So, hopefully, we’ll be able to throw hands with some fools in the coming weeks. That would be nice, and lord knows it’d be a good game to sink some hours into and remember the good old days. The days where a month was only a month long. Truly they were halcyon days.
