I adore VR trailers because it’s so hard to show off what the games are actually going to be like when you play them. You often end up with awkward-looking movements or over-the-top reactions. It can be almost cringe-worthy to watch sometimes, and it’s a real shame because I adore VR gaming. However, sometimes you get a trailer like the one for Star Shaman. In this trailer, the person showing off the movements you’ll be making, except they’re an absolute pro at using their body and can do high kicks and basically the splits and what.
The trailer had no need to make us all feel that bad about how we’re going to look playing the game, but it has made me very interested in the game itself. Star Shaman is set in a universe where the Architects of Entropy have been turning everything into cubes. Your role, as a Star Shaman, is to reshape everything into a more interesting form. Your aim is to bring back diversity and stop the unstoppable forces of entropy. That’s a tall order, but hey, it’s VR and a video game so you can do whatever you want.
Aside from the cool visual style and somewhat abstract story, I’m really into how much of a workout this looks like. I know getting sweaty in VR isn’t the best, but it’s hard to deny just how good it can be for your health and fitness if you’re willing to really commit to the movements. Well, you can see for yourself when Star Shaman launches later this month.
