Solasta: Crown Of The Magister Could Itch That TTRPG Scratch
While all eyes might be on a different game for your digital tabletop RPG fix. You’d be making a big mistake if you didn’t pay attention to Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Solasta is a turn-based RPG game based on the SRD 5.1 ruleset that then makes further tweaks to allow the system to better fit what the developers want to do. This means that while you can go in with a good idea of how you’re going to play, there are some decisions in there that’ll keep you on your toes.
One of my favourites was that if you say the right thing in conversations, you can avoid having to roll a dice to convince someone. It makes the game feel a little bit freer than the rules it’s based on, and it allows for a more organic experience, one more akin to playing the game with an actual DM.
Outside of that, the combat is fun, the classes are a blast to use, and ultimately, you’re going to have a good time playing it. Each battle allows you to flex your grey matter and test out how you can bend and break the systems to your own advantage. It’s not necessarily as pretty as some of the other options out there, but the depth here is worth investigating. I don’t think that Solasta is for everyone, but if you’re looking for a digital tabletop experience, then Solasta: Crown of the Magister is definitely worth keeping on your radar whether you play it in its Early Access form or wait for a full release.
