Gunfire Reborn is one of my most played games this year. I’m nearing level 100 in it at the moment, and it’s a perfect game for jumping in with some friends and letting off steam by unloading absurd weapons into absurd enemies. It’s also a game that’s constantly evolved since hitting Early Access earlier this year. I don’t mean it’s added a bit of content, I mean there seems to be new weapons and enemies nearly every other week.
The last update added in a new boss, who seems to randomly appear to smack you into the ground itself and ruin your runs. The latest update, and I mean as of today, adds in Daily Challenges along with a couple of other bits. It just keeps growing and keeps getting better. There’s not a weapon in the game that isn’t fun to use, and the way it handles builds even among the same characters is fascinating. You could easily all play the game as the same character and come out the other end with completely different builds.
It’s also a game where sometimes you’ll reach the end of a run having dealt a few hundred thousand in damage, and sometimes you’ll have a run where you deal eighteen million in damage, and probably find yourself laughing manically as you do so. In a word, it’s an exceptional game, and it also happens to be on sale at the moment for £7.33, which is an absurdly cheap price for such an excellent game.
