What Is Escape From Tarkov?
You’ve no doubt seen Escape From Tarkov by now or at least heard of it, but neither of those things really describe what it is. So, I thought I’d dive into what it actually is, aside from just an FPS game. Escape From Tarkov is ” a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features,” and it’s one of the best military simulator FPS games out there. If your ideal game has you making sure you have to map a button to check the remaining ammo in your clip, then this is the game for you.
You’ll spend a huge amount of time lying in wait and finding perfect positions, and your aim is often simply to go into an area and grab some loot before trying to escape safely. It’s not an easy thing to do, and while players are undoubtedly a threat, some of the AI characters have the kind of aim a normal human being can only dream of.
In-between raids and Scav runs you’ll have to talk to traders, complete quests, and upgrade your base. It’s a massive web of different things to do, and you can play loud if you want to (not recommended) or spend hours just lying in wait for the perfect chance to strike. It’s hard as nails, but it’s incredibly satisfying. While I don’t think Escape From Tarkov is a game for everyone, I do think it’s one well worth the attention of anybody who loves a hardcore shooter game. It’s also only in beta at the moment, which makes the complexity of it all the more impressive.
