Sloclap’s Next Game Is Sifu And We’re Hyped

Just in case you’re unaware, Absolver is one of the most incredible martial arts games around. The combination of art style, dungeons, and the fighting system itself, all make for one of the most absorbing and wonderful martial arts games around. While I don’t think it gets the recognition it deserves, I am always keen to harp on about it, and given that Sloclap, the people behind it, have just announced a new game, I’m dedicating this whole paragraph to just telling you to sort it out and play it.

Now then, the next game from the team is called Sifu, and it looks to be aiming to tell a classic story of revenge with a student trying to avenge their master through the power of being a stone-cold badass. The trailer alone is going to be enough to set most people on the path to punching thanks to the inclusion of a good old corridor scene, but it doesn’t tell us much about how combat will actually work this time around. I’m very much hoping that it’ll use a similar system to the one found in Absolver, but I’ll also take a more classical approach in the form of combo combat if it’s done well.

According to the game page, “Kung Fu is a path for the body and the mind. Learn from your errors, unlock unique skills, and find the strength within yourself to master the devastating techniques of Pak-Mei Kung-Fu.” This is a nod to the fact that you’ll age as you play through the game, and I’m very excited to see how that’s handled too.
