HORROR TALES the wine

Discover the aftermath of a pandemic in HORROR TALES: The Wine

Even from the trailer, the Mediterranean island of survival horror game, HORROR TALES: The Wine, looks exquisitely beautiful and lived in. That’s mostly because you’re not just immersed in the dull hues of grays and browns that so many games in the genre are known for.

In particular, there’s a shot of The Wine trailer that has enraptured me: it’s that of a purple aurora peeking over the horizon, illuminating the skies in the scene. I imagine myself spending some time dawdling in the brilliance of its city.

But the stroll is probably going to be a short-lived one; you’re not a tourist after all. Almost everyone on this archipelago is gone, with the city forsaken ever since it has been ravaged by a pandemic called the Devil’s Fevers. Looking to overcome the same infection that has consumed your loved ones, you’ve arrived at the capital in search of an antidote: a winery home to a unique brew of red wine. The thing is, they’re mostly gone, and you’ve decided to wander through its owners’ estate to uncover more clues and traces of this wine. That’s when you realise someone is relentlessly stalking your every move—and the frantic race through tight, twisting corridors in the abandoned estate ensues.

The Wine is also the first of three games to be released under the HORROR TALES saga, which will consist of three skin-crawling stories in three unique approaches to horror. The Wine will see a release soon enough on 31 July, whereas the two other tales—HORROR TALES: The Beggar and HORROR TALES: The Astronaut—will only be launched later in December this year. You can check these all out on Steam.
