Roboquest

Roboquest Is Borderlands Without The Chaff

Let’s talk about an Early Access roguelike you need to check out, shall we? Roboquest is an FPS roguelite that has you playing as one of a handful of robots, all at the behest of a young girl called Max, who is on a journey, to keep humankind alive. It’s the year 2700, you see, and the world has all but died off and become a desert, so things aren’t great.

Thankfully for Max, you’re not just any robot though, you’re a Guardian. That basically means you’re capable of getting stronger at a frightening rate, and it also means you’re very good with guns. In your average playthrough of Roboquest you’ll come across an incredibly varied set of weapons ranging from futuristic shotguns, kunai you can throw, flamethrowers, and even guns that just flat-out shoot lightning. If you’re the kind of person that likes over-the-top weapons, then you’re going to find something you love here. That’s all great, by the actual best thing about Roboquest is the movement.

Aside from running and jumping, which feels good too, you also have your double jump, and the ability to stomp on enemy heads. It means that you’ll be spending a lot of time in the air in Roboquest, and that’s also facilitated by the ability to grind on rails dotted around levels too. It means you can approach battles in a lot of different ways, but that those who have a need for speed will be satiated. It feeds into the game too, because you get ranked on how many kills you made during the level along with your speed in getting through it, and if you do really well, you get a bonus item. It’s all buttery smooth, and if you’re looking for a new roguelite to dive into, then you need to check this out.
