Boreal Tenebrae

Surreal retro adventure Boreal Tenebrae is coming to consoles

In the mood for some weird and nostalgic horror? Red Deer Games’ latest title, Boreal Tenebrae, might be one to keep an eye on. Inspired by Twin Peaks and Stranger Things, Boreal Tenebrae blends retro 90’s vibe and atmospheric storytelling with a tinge of horror into one weird and eerie adventure.

You play in the nightmare of a dying rural town cast adrift in a rapidly urbanising world. The town is sick and it’s affected the townsfolk for the worse. Bizarre and mysterious things are happening all around and it’ll be up to you to figure out what’s going on. There’s a murder to solve, a ritual to finish and an apocalypse to stave off.

Boreal Tenebrae is played from the perspectives of multiple characters with interweaving tales that each play a part in unraveling the larger mystery that surrounds the strange town. The game starts off with Bree whose sister, Sarah, has been absorbed by a peculiar object. From here you play as various characters traversing various parts of the town to investigate mysteries, solve puzzles and piece together the solution to stopping the imminent apocalypse.
