Cycled Is A Reality-Warping Roguelike

We love a good roguelike here at The Indie Game Website, but there’s no denying that there’s just an unfathomable number of them in existence now. We still adore a lot of them, but it can be incredibly tough to actually keep up with the new ones that are coming out, or which ones are worth paying attention to. Thankfully for you lot, we’re always keeping an eye on upcoming games, and that means we can spot the interesting ones that you should give a look.

Cycled is a top-down action roguelike that has you fighting in the aftermath of the Cataclysm. That’s not actually all that original, but the approach to it is. Because of the Cataclysm, the barriers separating parallel worlds has completely collapsed, and it means that the worlds are constantly in flux with each other. Every ten seconds a wave ripples through the world changing everything it touches, including your hero, the enemies you’ll be fighting against, and the world itself. It means that you’ll have to stay on your toes and constantly switch between different playstyles, which looks amazing.

The two heroes don’t just look different, but have their own unique abilities too, which means things will always be fresh in terms of gameplay. It takes the RNG aspects of roguelikes and basically speeds it all up so much that it’ll either be hard to keep track of, or an absolute stroke of genius. Either way, we’re very keen to see how Cycled handles things, and there’s even a demo you can try it if you are too.
