Critically acclaimed digital only indie games re-released as physical copies.

German publisher Strictly Limited Games are planning to publish one indie digital only game each month as a physical copy, and in limited numbers only.  This month’s game is Tokyo 42 – described as the love child of the original Grand Theft Auto and Syndicate.  Strictly Limited publish a set number of each release only – with no further copies available once sold out.  Though this is their first release, more than 90% of 2600 copies of Tokyo 42 have already sold.

Strictly Limited Games’ stated that their objective is:

to help establish a stronger identity for games as an art form, and delivering a consumer goods experience to video game collectors.

As such, the future release schedule is already lining up, with Japanese cult game Umihara Kawase recently added to the release schedule.  An unannounced game designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa, creator of the awesome Wonder Boy series will also be published in the future.  Strictly Limited Games invested in this previously unreleased game, which was previously thought to have been lost forever after the release was cancelled.  If this game turns out to be a new Wonder Boy game, personally I think I’ll probably explode with excitement.  We’ll be sure to keep you updated as more details are released in the next few weeks.

If you want to grab one of the last physical copies of Tokyo 42 (priced at £26.85) before you can never buy it again, head over to Strictly Limited Games.
