Wildlife Snap aims to stress animal conservation

This French mobile indie game takes Pokemon’s premise to an eco-friendly level.

French indie developer Thomas Loridan released today Wildlife Snap, a free iOS game centered around the premise of increasing animal conservation values by mixing a Pokemon-like premise of “Chatch ’em all”, but aimed at real life animals in different regions of the world. Loridan developed the game with communication manager and his wife, Helene Curvat.

Wildlife Snap: Animal Collector is, in essence, a picture-taking game that takes us back to the mighty era of Pokemon Snap and gives it a twist by focusing on real life animals and the need to take care of them and their environment. The game is available now exclusively for iOS mobile devices for free.

The core gameplay aspect of the game encourages players to take better and better pictures of animals all around the world, while at the same time collecting bits of interesting information about them and their ecosystems, stressing the importance of protecting presently endangered species.

Players will enjoy the guidance of Professor Glenn (more Pokemon references), who will instruct them with the basics of how to accomplish their mission. As the game progresses, players will unlock new areas of the world map to discover and useful abilities to improve their collections, as they also have the posibility of creating personalized albums of their photos.

“Users learn to recognise the animals: their names, what they look like, theirs tracks, their conservation status, and also informative descriptions, providing useful background information and insights into the lives of these creatures. In each continent, the players interest in the game is renewed by different environments: the forest, the desert, the jungle, etc.”, reads Wildlife Snap’s latest press release.

The game is available right now for free on Apple’s App Store and players can also get more information about the game on its official website.
