Panzer Strategy fires out new trailer

Impressive new trailer released for this turn-based WW2 strategy.

Turn-based strategies can sometimes have quite abstract user interfaces, but not Panzer Strategy: this new trailer shows off its stunningly realistic visuals, now even better due to an upgraded version of Unreal Engine. Using hexagonal tiles, you can reenact the greatest war in European history and storm across the continent with your fearsome Panzers, as well as rulling the seas with your battleships.

But there’s a lot more to this game than explosions and tanks: the aim of the creators (Eastern European studio Starni Games) is to produce a game with an unrivalled flexibility in tactics. There are many different options, as well as considerations, for the commander to take into account, including preparations for battle and supply lines during troop movements – your army will need a constant supply of ammo and fuel. Conversely, cutting your enemy’s supply lines is a great way to cripple their ability to operate.

There is also an RPG element, as depending on which commander you choose to play as, you will get different perks and side-quests, and you can upgrade your army as the game progresses, with various add-ons to choose from which can help tailor your army to your personal strategic style. Or if you just like to watch explosions and mayhem, then the UI can be switched from map view to free camera mode, which allows you to see the action of battles up close.

This game definitely looks like a must-play game for WW2 history buffs: not only are there over 100 customisable units, plus a large variety of battle scenarios and weaponry, but they are all crafted with the help of careful study of military history archives. If Panzer Strategy looks right up your alley then good news! It’s already out on Early Access, and you can grab it on Steam here.
