Play as either the human and survive the night, or the demon hunting his prey.
Daemonical presents differing gameplay depending if you play as Demon or Human which is played within a specified match time. The winning criteria for both – Humans – find 4 ritual parts and bring them back, or run and hide until the morning. Demon – killing 4 remaining humans before morning. Action, be it stealth or out and out dynamic activity, adds subtlety throughout with strategic forethought which is essential in what is a do or die scenario with shocks and surprises constantly giving Daemonical a feeling of being part of a horror movie.
The humans are played in the first-person mode. In order to exorcise the demon, they need to find the missing ritual components and bring them back to the alter. Their only alternative is hiding and surviving until the dawn, when the sunlight will purge the demon from the grounds. They can use fire, which hurts the demon, or weapons and tools hidden around the island to their advantage. While the demon can’t be killed, he can be crippled, stalled and distracted. The demon is played in the third person, needs to simply slaughter all the humans and prevent them from finishing the ritual. He is fast, agile, powerful and deadly.
Speaking of the Early Access release, developer Fearem said:
“We are a small team, and early access should provide us with enough funding and players feedback needed to finish the game and fully release it. Although the game is playable as it is, we plan to implement much more content and features, for which we need more resources. The plan is to keep the game in early access up to a year, but that could change when we consider players feedback. We plan to implement more demons, more map additions, work some more on procedural map generation, possibly add some new game modes. Also work on bot support. The final version should have at least a couple different demon types, and lots of demon skills.”
The Early Access version of Daemonical features:
- Huge open landscape
- Dense and realistic randomly generated vegetation
- Big number of procedurally generated houses & interest points on the map
- Procedurally generated collectible and ritual part locations
- Each match the map is different
- Realistic time of day
- Real-time weather and amazing atmospheric environment sounds
- Beautiful settings, atmosphere, landscape, environment
- Freedom of choice – make your own horror
- Proximity voice chat – can be used for role-playing
- Realistic characters, character customization

- Unity 3d engine
Daemonical is available on Steam now, priced at £10.99 / $14.99 / €12.99. The developers have noted that the price is expected to increase once out of Early Access.
