Take flight in Eole the free contemplative flight simulator

Eole not aioli.

You are but a little plane, flying through the ruins of a civilisation that used to be ruled by kings, and is now ruled by dust. Eole, the contemplative flying simulator developed by Thobi, is on itch.io for free and it looks like just the thing to chill out to this weekend.

While it has just a short runtime of around half an hour, Eole looks like the perfect game to get lost within. This is also something the developers actively encourage over seeking out game mechanics and goals: ”There is an objective of sorts, with lots of lights to find and change their color by flying next to them, but there are a LOT of them so it’s best not to get too caught up in finding them all”. These guys really want you to just relax.

Eole

On the archipelago of this world, the floating islands still bear the mark of the past. A confederation of kings once ruled this land, and the statues and monuments they made are left behind for you to swerve and dodge through. The process of flight itself is illustrated nicely by the slipstream you leave behind, twirling through the midnight blue skies of the night, and bright azure of the day. The plane can be flown via keyboard or flight stick, but the team admits that the controls can be a little unwieldily on a keyboard, and you’re better off with a flight stick if you have one.

The game is available now for free on PC at itch.io. Due to the game’s 3D graphics, a PC with high spec is advised.
