Once Upon a Coma’s dark fairytale has serious Hollow Knight vibes

From the developer of Pinstripe.

With Pinstripe, Thomas Brush’s first game, he perfected the Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired journey through hell. Now, building on the skill shown in his first foray, Brush enters the world of nightmares, with a combat style that looks straight out of Hollow Knight and dialogue that gets us thinking about Night in the Woods.

The games protagonist has rather unfortunately found himself in a coma but worse still, when he wakes, the world is not as it used to be. Follow the screams to Blackfork Asylum and you’ll find out more about Peet’s strange past and the even stranger present he’s found himself within.

Along with Blackfork Asylum there are five other illustrated dreamscape levels to explore where you will find plenty of bosses, monsters and “blood-thirsty grown ups”. But don’t worry, you’ve got a baseball bat and some childhood pals to back you up, all with the aim of finding out the truth behind your coma.

Once Upon a Coma’s demo has done particularly well at conferences. It was selected at Pax West in 2017 for the Indie Mega Booth and won Game’s choice at SXSW in 2018. Now the full game is ready to be release, and although no date is official yet it will be this year, perhaps even Halloween judging by the end of the trailer. Hurrah! Check out it’s Steam page to find out more.
