Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord Rises Up This Month

The henchest horse armour

Mount & Blade might not be a game that you’ve ever played, you may not have even heard of it, but it’s one of those cult-level hits that you should probably pay attention to. Launching all the way back in 2008, the game garnered some affection just due to its nature. As a hybrid action/RPG/strategy game, it still stands out as something just a little bit different to everything else. While the original does have flaws, it was still a lot of fun, and that’s why you see so many positive reviews of it on Steam.

Well, in what can only be good news for fans, as well as an exciting prospect for those who’ve never heard of the series, we finally have a release date for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. Granted, it’s coming to Early Access, but it’s doing so this month, albeit on the 31st.

Instead of following the story of the original Mount & Blade, Bannerlord is a sequel, set some 200 years before and aims to expand on both the systems and the lore of the world in which it is set. You’ll now be able to use siege engines and even mess around with criminal empires if you so wish. It seems that the main thing that TaleWorlds Entertainment have focussed on is freedom, and freedom can only mean a big old sandbox of a world to mess around in.

Early Access is rapidly becoming a more standard way of doing things as well, so it’s likely that it’ll release in decent condition, but that buying in early will mean you get to see the game grow and get better. All exciting stuff really.
