Cloudpunk Looks A Lot Like The Fifth Element

Big bada boom

It’s safe to say that 2020 is shaping up to be the year of punk. There are more cyberpunk, steampunk, and old punk bands than you could ever keep clothed with a thousand tartan trousers. Not only all of that, but there’s also this rather lovely looking game called Cloudpunk, which looks like it was ripped straight out of the world of The Fifth Element. At least, it’s got flying cars and a lot of neon, so that’s always nice.

You play as a character called Rania, who has just taken up a job delivering packages for the “semi-legal” delivery company called Cloudpunk. Your job is to make sure packages reach the many denizens of Nivalis, an incredibly beautiful futuristic city where flying cars are the standard. Your job looks set to take you all over this huge metropolis from the heights of the sky-piercing buildings to the depths of the festering undercity.

Along the way, you’ll end up becoming wrapped up in a mysterious story filled with conspiracies, the dangers of AI, and a vast array of different characters. It’s described as being a neo-noir story, which no doubt means more than a little bit of detective work alongside your day job of leaving packages behind bins instead of ringing the doorbell, which is presumably still a very hard job, even if the doorbell is right there and somebody is waiting inside for the package. The good news is that you can get stuck into this world soon, as it releases on April 23rd on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam.
