The Wind Road Looks Like A Chinese The Witcher 3

Hack, punch, and slash

Every so often Steam offers up a glimpse of something incredibly cool. It’s not an easy thing to do, because Steam can also constantly bombard you with games about being a dodgy landlord, or just, sex for some reason. However, in one of these rare glimpses of something that looks excellent, I’ve discovered The Wind Road. Judging from the trailer, it looks like an incredible game. It’s got action, pretty graphics, and by the looks of things, some interesting combat design too.

I’m a bit of a sucker for anything that has the words “martial arts” in the sales pitch, but well, it does also look incredibly pretty. You play as an adventure fighting against bandits in the Silk Road region. You don’t start off as a hero, but you’re aiming to become one as you go. It’s a classic tale, albeit in a slightly different setting, and providing the combat plays as good as it looks, then we’ll all be absolutely golden.

Along with the usual sword attacks you’d expect, you also become able to enhance your weapons temporarily, use Qi to perform incredible magical skills, and even Wing Chun. Plus, you can drink and end up drunk, which allows you to perform Drunken Boxing and Taibai Swordplay too. It’s just got a lot going on, and it looks like the kind of game that could be absolutely massive. There is one small issue though, as it stands, the game isn’t getting English language support. Maybe we can start a good petition or something?
