Haven Continues To Be Out Of This World

The one place not corrupted by capitalism… SPACE!

Haven is one of those games that just looks like it’s going to be huge. It’s got a gorgeous sci-fi aesthetic, you roam around on an alien planet, and the story focusses on Yu and Kay, and their relationship with each other. Not only does this allow for an in-depth story looking at how relationships might work in space (that’s a joke, they’ll be just like normal relationships, ie, much better with a cat), but it also allows for co-op as well.

The two lovers have escaped to this new unknown planet and just want to survive and stay together. Now, I’m not 100% that this is going to the case, but things will probably go wrong. Thankfully, both characters cab fight too, which is where you get a feel for the rather cool-looking combat system. You get to execute attacks in what appears to be a turn-based system, but your timing is essential if you want to survive. That means it’ll take more than just good strategy to overcome the challenges you’ll be facing.

The actual most interesting thing here really does look to be the relationship between Yu and Kay. The two seem to have a fairly good relationship, and it’s nice seeing relationships that remain strong in the face of adversity, though, of course, what actually happens in the game may test that or destroy it. There are also some dialogue options too, which means that it might be your fault if things go wrong. There’s still no firm release date for Haven, but it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
