The Best Life Sim Games For Your Cosy Escapism

We are now in the colder months of 2020 and there is nothing better than grabbing a hot beverage, a warm blanket and a game to get completely lost in. Here are the best life sim games that you can play to get comfy cosy with.

The Best Life Sim Games

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is the gold standard for life sim games. If you love this genre and don’t have this title, you are seriously missing out. The game starts with an escape to the country by leaving your mundane office life to take over your late grandfather’s farm in a quaint little town (a fantasy many of us share). You can customise the farm to your heart’s desire and build strong bonds with the townsfolk. Stardew Valley also has a great adventure element if you need to take a break from farming.

Stardew Valley is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PS4 and smartphones.

My Time at Portia

My time at Portia is a game that is quite Harvest Moon-esque. The game takes place in a  post-apocalyptic world known as Portia, but don’t let that mislead you. Portia is very green, beautiful and is bursting with nature and wildlife. You take over your “Pa’s” workshop, grow crops, go fishing and explore the open world. During your travels, you will come across many strange creatures to fight, build friendships by helping people with tasks or giving them their favourite gift and maybe you will find love.

My Time at Portia is available on Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox

Spiritfarer

Spritfarer is a game that may tug on the heartstrings (box of tissues on standby recommended). You play as Stella, the ferry master to the deceased. Explore an unknown world, develop relationships with your passengers and build up your boat to accommodate your new friends you’ve made on your journey…friends that you will eventually say goodbye to. The game is truly beautiful and is such a fantastic concept.

Spiritfarer is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PS4

Littlewood

Littlewood is the perfect game for you if you enjoy playing Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. The character you play has been given the title “The Hero Who Saved The World” after you have defeated the Dark Wizard…although you have no recollection of this. You help to rebuild the town, explore different parts of the world and level up all your hobbies and crafts as the days go by.

Littlewood is available on Steam and soon will be available on the Nintendo Switch.

Ooblets

Ooblets is a funky and cute 3D life simulation game. You can customize your house and your characters. On top of the life sim elements to this game, one of the main focuses is growing and training your Ooblets (they are so cute I need all the plushies!) and having dance-offs. The concept may sound silly but it is a great game to get lost in and just vibe to, perfect for forgetting the cold outside!

Ooblets is still in early access and is available on Windows and Xbox.
