SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, which is still one of the most obnoxiously long and consulted titles around, is coming to mobile phones on January 21st. It’s kind of wild to think about, but I think it might actually be a pretty good fit thanks to the fairly low-effort gameplay that it provides. It’s just a nice chilled out game that lets you explore Bikini Bottom and collect stuff, and I can see it doing pretty well on mobile.
I really enjoyed it when I played it last year on PC, and found it to be a nice warm game that didn’t demand much of me, but did put a smile on my face. Honestly, given how last year went and how this year has started, that’s a lot more important than a lot of other factors. If that’s not enough for you then maybe read the review I linked above, but I think this’ll help a lot of people chill out on mobile. I also don’t think the controls will be too much of an issue, but it might make a couple of platforming sections a little trickier.
I’d like to see more character platformer games like this come to mobile, I’m always looking for new games to play on my phone and it’s cool to see one like this making it’s way over. I’d still rather play games on my PC, but mobile gaming is a big part of the industry, and sometimes you just wanna lay in bed and not think too much.
