Free-to-play games can be very hit and miss, but sometimes one comes along that just ensnares everyone around, like Genshin Impact, for example. It’s far more likely that they feel like cheap money grabs rather than well-made games, but it’s not always the case, and sometimes they’re just incredible games. Well, Scavengers might just be the next big contender in the F2P space, and that’s because it looks like it’s going to be doing something very different indeed in the space.
For starters, it’s not a PvP game or a PvE game, but a combination of both. You have to not only survive against the harsh and unforgiving world that you find yourself in, but also against other players trying to do the same thing. You’ll do so by picking a character and mixing up their weapons, abilities, and loadouts, and hopefully working alongside your teammates to ensure you all make it out alive. It’s a really cool concept, and there’s something really enticing about the idea of playing through this and seeing what’s what.
Of course, a lot of it will depend on what kind of F2P model it uses. Assuming the monetisation isn’t too bad, it could well be an excellent addition to the world of free games. I’m pretty excited about Scavengers though, and I’m hoping it’ll be a lot of fun whenever it releases, which will hopefully be soon, but who knows. Well, the developers probably know, but I’m not them, so I don’t. Sorry about that.
