There’s Gonna Be A Puzzle Quest 3!

Look, match-3 games are absurdly good fun. If you can take them and make them more interesting by adding in other mechanics you have a winner. That’s exactly what happened with the original Puzzle Quest fourteen years ago, and Puzzle Quest 3 has literally just been announced (at the time of writing) as a sequel to the story of that one. Needless to say, I’m incredibly excited about the whole thing, and I’m also really hoping it comes to mobile too.

It is going to be a free-to-play game, which has me a little cautious given how absurdly wallet-draining these games threaten to be. I’m hoping that it’s nothing too major, but I’ve got no way of knowing for sure based on what’s been said about the game so far. That is to say that there’s very little information about this game other than the fact that it exists. That’s enough for me to want to write an article on it, but not enough for me to say that I’ll enjoy it without a doubt.

If you’ve never played it, I definitely recommend checking out the original Puzzle Quest. I’ve got very fond memories of stumbling across it on my Xbox 360 and then becoming absolutely besotted with it from then on. It’s a game that basically haunts me, and the inability to play it with ease whenever I want, on mobile ideally, is something that irks me to no end. So yeah, I’ll keep you updated with this, but if we can all keep our fingers crossed for monetisation that isn’t predatory.
