You Should Play Wildfire
Stealth games are either very much my thing, or extraordinarily not so. It’s a bit weird, and I feel as though I’m probably not the only one that feels like this. I think the difference between the two is what happens when you fail. Failing a player for messing something up isn’t fun, it’s far more entertaining to simply roll with it, in much the same way you would in a TTRPG. Rather than simply chucking you back to a checkpoint, things are better when you’ve got a little wiggle room.
Wildfire does this really well because you basically get to control the world around you thanks to some very cool immersive sim elements, and it means that you’re not only more likely to succeed, but failure is infinitely more entertaining too. Basically, you have to take back your home from some very pesky invaders, and you get to do this by manipulating the world around you using fire, ice, and earth. It feels a little bit like an Avatar stealth game, and well, that’s probably enough to sell it to most people, to be honest.
It’s also, and you’ll know this is big for me, a fun game to play in co-op. It’s only local co-op, but you can always play it with a friend thanks to Steam remote play. Basically, Wildfire is a huge amount of fun, and it’s a good one to check out if you missed it back when it released all the way back in May last year.
