Play Detective in a Victorian Mansion in Tandem

Night has fallen in Victorian London, and you have only a lantern to guide you in a dark mansion of unknown enemies. A scuttling noise behind you sends spiders crawling up your spine. Your tool for survival? Only your wits… and a teddy bear.

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows follows a headstrong girl named Emma and her new teddy bear Fenton as they investigate a special case: the mysterious disappearance of Thomas Kane, the only son in a famous family of illusionists. Illusions or not, enemies and puzzles come to life in the Kane family mansion, which Emma and Fenton are now exploring to uncover clues and secrets. Solve over 40 puzzles in both a side scroller and top-down perspective, a format that sets Tandem apart from other games. 

Inspired by Jules Vernes, Conan Doyle, and Tim Burton, this game sports a dark and mysterious atmosphere, while not shying away from the ornate environments and accessories found in Victorian-era architecture.

As hinted by the game’s name, Tandem’s claim to fame is having you play as two different characters in tandem. As Emma, you cast shadows in a 3-D, top-down environment using her lantern, levers, and more. Then, switch to Fenton in a side-scrolling setup to climb on the shadows Emma has made, which opens up more possibilities for traversing through the levels. Distract and trap the enemies together to stay alive in this dangerous mansion.
