Survive your own fractured mind in In Sound Mind
There are plenty of horror games that revolve around experiencing—and ultimately surviving—the expanse of the protagonists’ own fractured minds. But while most of them let you go through a sequence of these haunting memories through stealth and with minimal means to retaliate , upcoming psychological horror game, In Sound Mind, is one of the few titles that directly confronts this, with a focus on both solving frenetic puzzles and defending yourself with challenging boss fights.
The entire affair definitely looks macabre. Awaking in the corridors of a strange building, you found that the environments around you are twisting and melding into incomprehensible sights, your vision smeared by bizarre scenes and disorienting horrors. All of these seem like par for the course for most psychological horror games, but there’s something compelling to this when In Sound Mind backgrounds these with an imposing soundtrack by musician The Living Tombstone, as well as a bigger focus on action than many horror titles. No longer do I want just feel helpless; I would love the opportunity and the capacity to fight back against my own fears, too.
You’ll also have a feline companion. And of course, like most modern games today, you can now have the opportunity to pet the cat.
The developers have also released a new music video based on the game, so it does seem that music will be a significant aspect of the game. Regardless of your feelings towards horror, the music is honestly banging, and is accompanied by a nifty animation that hints at some of the game’s tale. You should check it out:
In Sound Mind will be released on August 3, as well as a demo you can try out right now.
