WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Is A Stunning New Soulslike

Soulslikes are a genre that everyone wants to get involved with, but not often one done especially well outside of those made by FromSoftware, and the odd one that manages to get the formula right. Despite that, it’s hard to see a Soulslike and not be a little bit excited about it, because it’s a genre that’s incomparably satisfying when done correctly. Thankfully, at least as far as the first trailer shows, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers looks to be absolutely incredible.

You take control of a heroine who’s been found comatose due to something called Feathering. It’s basically a disease that’s been affecting a village, and it causes people to start sprouting feathers, and not in a way that looks anything other than rather horrifying, and extremely painful. It basically means you’re going to have to search for a cure, and also that there are a bunch of monsters about the place who are very keen to kill you off. For the keen-eyed, while the game undoubtedly resembles a Souslike, it seems to very specifically hark to Bloodborne.

While the two look similar to those unfamiliar, WUCHANG very specifically seems to use a similar gun-counter system, where you shoot someone at the peak of their attack in order to stagger them, and that then allows you to cause a huge amount of damage to them with a special attack. It’s very early days for the game, as it stands, but the trailer’s definitely piqued our interest, and we’ll be keeping a very close eye on it, as a result.
