Hyper Light Drifter coming to Switch

The 2D action RPG sensation coming to Switch later this year.

Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG which features intense action, other-worldly environments and a captivating storyline. Our Hero is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease much like its creator, Alex Preston, who suffers of a heart disease, major source of inspiration for this game.

The game originally launched on Steam in March of 2016, and has since received over eight thousand reviews, currently rated as very positive. Similar success has been enjoyed on PS4 and Xbox One, with the official Playstation Store page for Hyper Light Drifter scoring it 4.5/5 and 4.7/5 for Xbox One.

The reviews for Hyper Light Drifter have raved over the game, with polygon.com calling it “decadent, cryptic and classy”, whilst destructoid called it “gorgeous and punishing”. PCGamer described it as “an astonishingly beautiful post-apocalypse, brought to life with a vivid colour palette and intricate pixel art.”

The first success found by the game was an incredible Kickstarter campaign. The original campaign target was $27,000, which over 24,000 people helped to smash, raising a total of $645,158. All but one Stretch goal was achieved, which allowed for the PS4 release, more loot and in game areas amongst others.

Abylight Studios is currently working on the adaptation to Nintendo Switch closely with Yoyo Games, developer of the engine GameMaker used to create the game, as this title pushed the technical envelope. Once the development is finished, Abylight will release the game worldwide. Release for the Switch is expected for summer of this year. We’ll be sure to keep you updated of an exact release date.
