Go excavating when Heaven’s Vault launches this spring.
Heaven’s Vault is an intriguing science fiction title from 80 Days studio Inkle that looks like a totally unique adventure. For one thing, it’s about archaeology – what’s the last game you can say that about?
It also has you following a young woman named Aliya (who is, herself, an archaeologist) exploring various worlds in an ornate wooden ship. Its unique art style looks like a cartoon come to life, which is all the more of a reason to give it a look.
What’s the most intriguing, however, is that you’ll have to work to translate an alien language seen throughout the game to help guide you along the right path. Interestingly, you won’t always be able to make the right choices, and in fact may make the wrong ones here and there, which can throw you off the correct path. You may work toward one solution for some time, only to find that you were totally incorrect the whole time.
The language, inspired by Egyptian, Chinese, and German, sounds extremely complicated. We can’t wait to give it a look and see what we can decipher from it.
The latest trailer, above, gives us a bit more of a look at the game before it finally touches down this spring. It’ll be available on Steam if you’re as bemused by the fact that it tries so many new things as we are.
