Stardew Valley’s massive new update is here
All updates are equal, but some updates are more equal than others.
Stardew Valley, created by solo developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, has finally received the big update fans have been waiting for in the form of 1.4. Completely free to anyone who already owns the game, it brings with it a wide range of new features and quality of life improvements.
As covered in a blog post, the update adds a huge amount of content including new romance options with 14 new heart events for every spouse, a movie theatre, fish ponds, hundreds of cosmetic items and multiplayer enhancements. On top of all the added content, there are also hundreds of bug fixes and improvements that have been added. You’ll be glad to know that your divorced spouses no longer attend your wedding. That was kind of awkward.

Styardew Valley has found phenomenal success over the years since its release with constant game updates always expanding its scope. Adding multiplayer in 2018 the game expanded further allowing other farmers to join each other’s worlds. On top of the slew of content created by the developer, there’s also been an endless supply of fan-made mods, some of which we covered here.
The recent update also added a new end-game event in which you restore an old abandoned building. Sounds mysterious. This may hopefully help to build on some of lighter narrative elements currently present in Stardew Valley or at least entertain some of the players who have reached beyond the late-game grind.
The 1.4 update is available now on GOG and Steam.
