Nippon Marathon Sales Benefit Australian Charities

Hyperactive party game Nippon Marathon contributes 100% of profits to Aussie charities this week.

Sales profits of Nippon Marathon will be donated in full to an Australian charity for one week only, from the 7th – 14th January. The game’s Steam sales will contribute to WIRES, a charity dedicated to helping wildlife during the current bushfires.

Turning something so brilliantly fun into a way to raise money for a worthy cause is something the games industry does particularly well. Nippon Marathon is set to be the next irreverent game to be a part of something greater. A spokesperson from developers Onion Soup said; “It’s sad to see what’s happening in Australia. It’s sad to see homes destroyed, livelihoods ruined and animals dying from the fires. We must protect the wildlife, with fires destroying lands the size of Scotland, they cannot survive without our help.”

Nippon Marathon is exactly what it sounds like – an indie game developed to encapsulate crazed party-fun, questionable tropes and hilarious concepts. This multiplayer game lets you drop in and out, racing across the whole of Japan in a series of increasingly absurd challenges. Take up the mantle of one of the four characters, and challenge your friends to a bizarre journey of stamina and stupidity, all while saving the koalas.
