The Gunk Has A Release Date, And It’s Soon

First of all, on a personal level, I can’t describe the discomfort the word gunk brings with it. It summons up images of sleep dust in eyes, of brown goo at the bottom of an unwashed shower, and of that feeling you get in a hotel or room that needs far more than just a good clean. With that out of the way, I’m still very excited to tell you that we have a release date for The Gunk, which thankfully has you cleaning up said mess, rather than causing it.

The Gunk is the next game from Image & Form Games, the absolute powerhouse team behind the extraordinary Steamworld games. Well, they’re actually called Thunderful Games now, just so you know. This time though, you’ll be venturing out into a world, not as a robot, which is a big change straight away. You’ll be controlling two space haulers who have to try and scavenge a planet absolutely covered with, you guessed it, The Gunk. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone’s got to do it.

You’ll have to control the characters as they venture across the planet to clean it up, solve puzzles, find loot, craft useful tools, and just generally survive. Let’s be honest, you’ll probably also end up discovering the secret of The Gunk too. If you’re a big fan of cleaning stuff, or you just hate the word gunk as much as I do, you’ll be very happy to know that The Gunk is releasing on Xbox consoles on December 16th.
